Just as a side-note - I know it's not directly related to the question, but I also use TinyURL to make really long URIs into nice short ones.

you may also try playing with CTRL+K using your pc keyboard. 
for example:
click here
high light the "here" word, then press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard then simultaneously press the K key. Then on the space provided, put in the URL, then hit enter.
