i know that the android market is one of the main incentive for this project .
What I meant was to start by getting whatever it takes to get android apk's running on our phones even without the whole android ecosystem to start(most of which should coexist with some linux systems already) and make it work like it's intended for that phone(now that's the difficult part) . That would really excite one and all and then the real deal would find more support...
didn't mean to 'just run a linux'(even that would be nice enough though on older nokias) , meant to be sort of a test.If a typical, lightweight Linux version was realized... You'd have a hard time getting attention. Even on Maemo.org with Mer, they had very little attention, and that was more of a community project done by many. It wasn't really useful, it was more because it was possible rather than practical.
Still, there is something to it. It would be a good way of learning how to boot up to a regular Linux OS where it's easier to find out what's wrong and so on, and later extend it to include Dalvik in the kernel, and get Android started.
Thereafter , if the test is successful, we should put 2 and 2 together. I think setting realistic targets is necessary...
I've learnt that the hard way....

Actually, there is another damn shit problem need to solved!
After some investagations, there goes a big problem......
The hardware of SE is not quite easy as we thought, the hardware checks the system during the boot......if the system files are not from their signed firmware......than...it stop!
And thats big problem.....even try to boot from memory card, maybe it's impossible until we solve this problem
Anyone know how to skip this security shit?
Big problem= =

But, can you tell me what does that integrity system check for(eg- md5 hash of the files or something like that)?
If we can place the system files first , wait for integrity check to finish and then replace with our related files, while sort of Pausing the system from loading those files.
This will cause a delayed boot , but this could be a reasonable start...

Thats the biggest problem
If i know it checks MD5 or what.....i think this may have some chance to solve
But this still needed to figure out........
Sad.....

Hello guys... I just came across your post, which relates to what I have been trying to work on.
Following some research I came up with the idea that it might be possible to cross flash the vivaz with lets say the neo's android OS or maybe the x10's? I believe this could be possible I've read some dude manages to get his vivaz (u5i) being recognised as a vivaz pro (u8i) by SEUS.

I mean if we can get SEUS to recognise our vivaz as let's say the neo then it will do all the work for us. However I do not know how similar the driver for the neo are compared to the vivaz. In theory this should be a good match as both are touch screen and have the 3 physical buttons which carry out the exact same fuctions. (Many believe the neo was supposed to be the vivaz 2 lol)
Also people have managed to install android on the nokia n8 and a few others that run a more updated symbian OS, which leads me to think if we can get the vivaz to run maemo first the we can use the same method as the nokias.
