Yeah and there is an advantage of the less light going into the lens when you use optical zoom:You can create photos of the sky without over-exposure.

Agreed clewer, indeed I know I always use the optical zoom to control over exposure in extra bright situations!

Infact, even in low light,sometimes the LED flash unit is too bright and over illuminates the image. To compensate, go slightly further back, and then optically zoom in. The zooming in will reduce light going through the lens, combined with the increased distance from the subject will reduce the reflection of the LED flash.
