ganxta wrote:maybe ur right. better to try porting n64 emu. has the same graphics like nds. i remember in 2001 i played super mario 64 on my 166 mhz pentium 1mmx with 48 megs ram without problems. well without sound. with sound enabled it was totally slow.

Can you tell me which emulator you used?
Im interested in translating that app when i get the skills.
Was it Project64?
Or 1942 or else?
Indeed it has good performance, but probably its Project64K, it has no lighting effects. But KVE is filled with effects turned on.
Just let me know the name of app, and i will track it to the source.
I did say i would make a N64 emulator some time ago, didnt i?

And folks, dream away; NDS is too heavy for Omnia HD too. (Atleast 1,5Ghz processor needed)
But when Nokia make phones with Dual core you can realise.
If the phone has 2 processors its possible to run on phone without much power. (Atleast 66Mhz and 134Mhz processors)
Because then you can code the environment correctly.
The NDS has 2 cores, 1 for sound, one for gfx and all other stuff.
And, for it to work best possible we need a dump of the BIOS of NDS, so that it would configure most else itself.

But as long its 1 core its not possible without too much power spent.

psx would be easier to emulate. just has 33mhz. the emulator i used was ultra HLE. like im said with Pentium I mmx 166 mhz, 48 mb sdram and voodoo 1 graphic acceleration. i think psx dont need hwa so it would support a wider range of devices. pcpsx is a really good emulator. ppsx also for win mobile. but it shouldnt use the whole 640x360 pixels. qvga in a frame with touch buttons or strechted over the screen would save much power.

Ganxta, do you remember name of that N64 emulator you talked about?

And, 33Mhz is easy to make for, no need to save power on that one..

like i wrote above : ultra HLE  .

here its open source : http://alpha.emulation64.com/Downloads.html

but psx emu would make more sense. cause i dont think a n64 emu would work on the upcoming 5530, the 5800 or the n97. would just work in i8910 and SE satio.

Of course it would never work on 5530, thats a bad phone..
But, think positively:
If a PC with 166Mhz and 48mbs of ram runs N64 smooth without sound, it would work on S60 if you make the memory management correctly.
Anyway, a S60 uses less memory for system.

5530 will have the same hardware as 5800. well i dont know much about coding. but a n64 emulator without using a gpu and just 369 mhz (5530/5800) or 434 on n97 doesnt sound very realistic to me. the gpu makes a lot of difference. and on psx emulation u dont need a gpu. i played for example on my 472 mhz HTC blue angel in 2003 many psx games. and it hadnt a gpu. i reached 18 fps in gran turismo. that isnt really much.

and a n64 emu would half this framerate. and 9 fps isnt very playabe. just dont want that you make all the work for nothing. in my opinion still a psx emu would make a lot more sense. n64 emu could be possible but just with phones with gpu. on others it sure will be unplayble slow. 5800 cant even run quake 3 without a gpu. quake 1 works quake 2 too. but quake 3 is to heavy.

Forget NDS for 5 years..
But, if you have systems that are smaller, like Sega Saturn.
I looked up the specs, and they are not so good..
Its 2 of 26Mhz procesors.
Low enough?

And.. this is ridicolous..
SNES has 3,85Mhz processor..
Some games on SNES are good too.. (A link to the past is good)
And it could be loaded with alot of features too because it would e a slower CPU needed.

There isn't even a SNES port with good performance with sound available yet, and you're talking about n64? :stupid:
