is it normal that the device reboot after each setting change or when playing mp3 ?

why dont my n900 have "root" ?

and another thing i tryed for the unzip

"e: could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open '(13 permission denied)
e unable to lock the administartion directory /var/lib/dpkg/lock, are you root?

thats what i get

also is there a way to reformat the n900 ?

well i never had this kind of problem of rebooting...
you have root but you cant see it as you dont have root access.
i think you got this error as you dont have root access.
ya settings then click on settings at the top portion you will see clear device i think that will do.
i dont know exactly as i have never done it..

to be able to get root access you need to download rootsh form therepositories,
then to be root type 'sudo gainroot'
definately upgrade to the latest version,
avi if running old firmware option to clean phone isnt there its a pr1.2 feature.
the only way to totally clean phone is to flash it, both the os and the emmc. makes a hell of a difference though and sounds like u need it.

yeah reinstalling firmware, but the brest way to do it is to downoad the image and flash it to the device. at first seems really scary process but its actually very quick and efficient, takes only couple of minutes
