The Smartphone Camera Battle Oldie Nokia N93 vs. 12MP Nokia N8

I managed to get a hold of the classic Nokia N93 as some of you know my N93 drowned.
I decided to compare the old vs. the new. These two mobiles share similar technical attributes that not many phones have. Firstly the 28mm wide angle, plus ability to record in stereo. Both past model N93 and current N8 are flagships of its time.
Let’s see if technology and time has made the N8 worthy of being the super flagship for Nokias imaging phones. I love macros, so let’s see how N93 holds up against the N8. Both mo... .. .

Very nice but what do you mean by "slower glass"? Wasn't shutter speed the thing which affected 'speed' of snaps?

what I mean by slower glass is the amount of light that is captured and passed though to the sensor.
The n93 has slow glass f3.9-5.9, thanks to the n93 having an optical zoom. Optical zooms require more complex design, and more glass elements. All this adds up and can affect the optical quality and reduce light passing through to the imaging sensor.
The n8 has a much simpler design, since it has no optical zoom, can be considered in camera terms, a prime lens. Prime lens in general are sharper ie higher resolution and faster lens f2.8 in this case.
All up, less light hitting the sensor means the shutter speed has to drop and or the imaging sensor has to work harder reflected by higher ISO sensitivities which yields higher noise in the captured image.

WOW ...
I got quite disappointed by my N93 .. too much noise in the photos for my taste ... also compare with my old Sanyo Xacti C6 ... the N93 was producing garbage in comparison.
Incredible ... got a Xacti CG100 14Mpixel ... and still ... there is no more details then my old C6 in the photos
Anyhow ... the N8 12Mpixel sensor is looking very good ... but the lack of optical zoom is a mayor handicap ... still ... nobody then old N93 was bringing optical zoom on phone ...
I was dreaming of a N93 successor ... similar shape ... with a double touch screen ... instead of the old digit keyboard as in the N93 ... it could have been a good success ... since clearly ... Nokia N8 did sold good ... since the camera functionality in a phone is what most people care in these days (or if you said is a nice ... it is a big and rich nice)

f3.9-5.9 < that's called aperture
In zoom test it's obvious that N93 will be winner, digital zoom is pretty much nothing compared to optical.

yes arvis its aperture, and n93 has bigger f so less light passes through to the sensor. A small sacrifice for optical zoom
