+ Study: IPhone No. 2 smartphone platform in North America

18 December 2007

Canalys figures in,
iPhone clear winner in North America

iPhoneIf you've been here for long enough then you're well aware that I am putting huge effort to find, select, check, edit and publish only the very best and the most interesting news among all these various material that spreading around on a daily basis.

Speaking on the news, I don't think that I've ever heard, seen or read that much good news lately and I knew that it looks to good and that soon or later I’ll have to deliver some bad news to you.

I’ve just found a study, commissioned to Canalys by Symbian which shows that iPhone sales are second only to Blackberry in North America and I have to be honest and say that I am not surprised.

The study looked at third quarter sales of smartphones and found that in its first full quarter, the iPhone has already outsold all of the Microsoft Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm phones and now holds a 27 percent market share in North America.

Basically doesn’t reveals anything new for me, it just show already well known facts, Palm is dead everywhere but in the North America and from other hand Symbian is huge everywhere besides North America.

Sure I know it was already discussed numerous times and although I’m not ardently anti-Apple, not at all, I just can’t resist to say that I still can’t realize what is so great about beside the multitouch input of course. What to say about phone that lacks cut/copy/paste feature or isn’t capable to process crappy MMS format or record video in 3gp format at least, or phone that has BT but can’t send a files over it, will stop it here as I haven’t enough time to count all cons, crap is crap and that’s it.

I guess that most of you will agree with me (actually it expectable from Symbian freaks LOL) that iPhone is nothing but the crap, but general public won't know that and most of them won't even realize that when they actually buy one. The iPhone brings nothing new to the market, except already mentioned multi touch which is great innovation by the way, not trying to deny that. Actually, if it brings anything new, its the look, and honestly, slim and sleek design has been seen before, and it will be done again, Prada is nice example and it going to be even better and better equipped phone with more features.

Price, size, weight, height, width, design, brand, OS, who really care, features before all and in terms of features it simply sucks, it’s a piece of **** with nice screen over it and extremely good marketing behind it... .. .
