Nokia Hits 13 Million Mark For Nokia 5800 XM
Following its introduction in October 2008, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has seen successful sales starts in a number of markets, including Spain, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Finland and especially Russia in November, with other territories including the UK, Singapore, Australia and the US couple of weeks ago.
In late January, Friday the 23h to be exact, Nokia confirmed it had shipped the millionth Nokia 5800 XM device and now, just a two months later, Rob Taylor, head of Forum Nokia for the Americas region , disclosed the new sales figure at a briefing during the CTIA WIRELESS 2009.
According to Rob, it took just a two months to sell 12 million more and surpass the whooping 13 million sold devices overall which makes it even more popular than the Jesus phone, as Apple has sold 17 million of phones including sales of both the original iPhone and iPhone 3G but in the period of 16 months, according to the company's vice president of iPod and iPhone product marketing.
These numbers are actually even more awesome when you consider that Nokia 5800 is company's first mass market touch screen device a typical mid-range device, while the flagship touch phone is schedule for launch in June.
Please note these are approximate and not official numbers in any way but the mobile-ent.biz portal claims it is and I hope we’ll soon get something more officially Finnish mobile telecommunications giant!
