How to move and save your messages
directly on MMC

(N-Gage / SX1 / X700 /6260 / etc..)

Be careful, use this software at your own risk, the Symbian-freak team and this site don’t take any responsibility for any damage caused to your phone!!!

If you have a N-gage, Siemens SX1, Panasonic X700 or 6260 you might know that you can’t change your message storage memory, it’s a factory disabled function. I think it’s because of MMC swapping reasons.

This guide will teach you how to bypass that restriction and move/save your messages directly to the MMC instead phone memory! That means any kind of messages, SMS, MMS, email, and Bluetooth too!

It gives you many benefits. For example, you will get more free space in your phone memory. But the most important benefit is you can finally use direct BT sending to transfer large files (music, movies, games, etc) from your PC or share that content between two phones without the need to set-up connection manager and the use of PC suite or other similar software like Desktop file manager.5

Guru tip No 1:

Don’t use this patch if you have game cards in your phone, because game cards can't store messages; so use it only with normal MMC's.

1.)
First of all, backup your messages if you have some important data, because after applying this patch you will not be able to see your existing messages (messages will still remain in the phone memory and you can reach them if you change your message memory back to phone)!!

Guru tip No 2
:

Also, if you want to free up more phone memory I suggest you to delete all of your messages before applying this patch because it doesn’t delete or move your existing messages, it just changes your storage memory.

2.)

Download

and install MsvDriveE application

3.)
Scroll down to application icon and run it, JUST ONCE.

After running the application, it will change your message's storage memory drive:

from C: (phone mem)
to drive E: (MMC),

Create necessary folders and copy necessary files from phone memory to E:\system\mail\

Guru tip No 3:
If you want to move all of your existing messages (which still remain in the phone memory) you can do it manually with a 3rd party file manager like Fexplorer [freeware] or Seleq. Be very careful and don’t run the app twice because you'll probably get an error message and maybe you’ll lose all messages stored on the MMC.

4.)
Finally, if you want to switch back to phone memory as the default storage memory follow the steps below:

  • Turn off your phone
  • Pull out the MMC
  • Switch the phone ON still without the MMC
  • Go to messaging and that’s it
  • It will automatically change back to phone memory.

Be careful, use this software at your own risk, the Symbian-freak team and this site don’t take any responsibility for any damage caused to your phone!!!
